Masterclass on DID Registration and Resolution - June 26 _ Identiverse 2019

In the Self-Sovereign Identity (SSI) community, there is broad support for Decentralized Identifiers (DIDs). The basic idea is that in order to build sovereignty, control, and privacy into an identity architecture, one has to start with identifiers that do not depend on central authorities or intermediaries. During the last year, the specification and implementation of DIDs as well as related higher-level technologies such as Verifiable Credentials and DID Auth have made steady progress. But how do DIDs actually work? In this Masterclass, we will review the basic data structures (DID Document) and functionality that DIDs provide (Registration, Resolution, Update, Revoke), and we will look at concrete tools that can be used to work with DIDs. This includes SDKs in various programming languages, web-based interfaces, and command line tools. There will be plenty of opportunity for the audience to interact and to try some of these tools on your own, in order to gain first-hand experience with how DID can be used. You should come to the session perpared with a basic understanding of the DID concept.
