Verified.Me and Canadian Identity Innovation
While technological innovation continues to advance at a blinding clip, identity authentication has not kept up with this pace. In today’s identity landscape, consumers and businesses still often rely upon onerous and costly identity proofing processes that do not operate on privacy and consent-centric models. There is an increasing demand for digital identity services that adequately protect consumers’ personal data and allow businesses to maintain trust and credibility. Verified.Me by SecureKey Technologies is a first-of-its-kind blockchain-based digital identity verification network. Verified.Me leverages the trusted organizations involved as network participants and the strong technological frameworks to enable consumers to verify their identities quickly and securely to access services and products. The network was developed in cooperation with seven of Canada’s major financial institutions including BMO, CIBC, Desjardins, National Bank of Canada, RBC, Scotiabank and TD. Since Verified.Me’s launch, Equifax, Sun Life Financial, Notarius, Dynacare and FCT Mortgages have joined the ecosystem, with many more anticipated. In this session, attendees will learn about the current state of identity security and how more collaborative identity solutions touch every aspect of the digital economy from healthcare and government, to personal finance and the sharing economy.
